Funded Trader Interview #3: Noah

How did you find out about Breakout?
I randomly came across a video that Mayne posted on Twitter. Before that I didn’t even know prop firms existed for crypto.

Can you briefly describe your trading strategy?
I don’t really have a go-to strategy. It kinda depends on the type of market we are in at the time, whether it be bull market, bear market, or ranging. I think what’s really important is being able to adapt quickly and being able to find an edge in any market environment. However in all of these cases, key price levels will always be important. So whenever price reaches a key level I’ll watch the price action to see how it reacts to the level, looking for fractals and patterns that could indicate the direction the market wants to move and plan my trades accordingly. I personally like using Bollinger Bands, RSI, and MACD for additional confluence on trade setups, usually on the 1H or 4H timeframes, while using the daily and weekly timeframes to identify overall market structure and determine what kind of trades I want to look for. Going into a trade, I try to have a plan with a clear target and invalidation, but one thing that’s been important for me is cutting losing trades quickly and letting winning trades run further than expected.

How was your experience with the evaluation process and trading on the Breakout account?
The evaluation process was pretty straightforward. Trading on the funded account feels exactly the same as the evaluation account. Trade execution is super quick and easy. I personally love the UI on the desktop app but the mobile app needs a little bit of improvement. A lot quicker to cash out than I thought it would be too.

Are you day trading or swing trading?
I’m usually day trading, but I’ll sometimes let a trade turn into a swing trade under the right circumstances.

Do you have any favorite coins to trade?
I usually stick to BTC. But when BTC isn’t doing much I like trading WIF and PEPE.

What was the hardest obstacle in your trading journey you had to overcome?
I think just developing the mindset and discipline required to become a profitable trader was the hardest. I probably had every single bad habit you could think of when I started my trading journey. Took me 2 years and a lot of lost money to get rid of them. Greed causing me to round trip trades or oversize, FOMO causing me to enter low quality trades without a plan, revenge trading because I couldn’t handle losses properly, it was a struggle. But all my problems existed because I let my emotions dictate my actions. Now I’m much more aware of my emotions, and try not to let them influence my trades as much as possible.

Are you trading full-time?
Yes. Only since I’ve been funded by Breakout.

What does your trading day look like?
It’s always different, I don’t like having a set routine. I usually just spend some time reading news and checking Twitter to get a general idea of market sentiment and the overall macroeconomic environment, then look for potential trade ideas on the few coins I trade. If there is a setup I like, I’ll have the chart open in a separate window while I do other stuff on my computer and just keep an eye on it until I get a trigger to enter. Once I enter the trade I like to watch it play out for the first hour or so and then check it periodically after that. On the other hand, if there are no setups that I like, I’ll just take the day off and do something else I enjoy. There are also days where I’m completely glued to the charts for 10 hours straight just trying to learn something new that could give me an edge.

Would you recommend Breakout to other traders?
I would definitely recommend it. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with Breakout. Top tier platform for sure.
